Tuesday marks the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation’s beginning. The Reformation dealt with a simple yet all-important question: How can a sinner be accepted by a holy God? This question is as relevant today as it was 500 years ago. Different religious groups have answered this question in diverse ways, but what does the Bible say about being reconciled to God? Are sinners made right with God by some kind of synergy between faith and works, or are sinners counted righteous before God through faith alone? In this week’s sermon, we look at Scripture to see the biblical doctrine of justification by faith alone.
